Q&A with Emily A :)

6 years ago I was introduced to the wonderful world of fitness; who knew it would turn into my sole passion in life!? The constant dedication, discipline and sacrifice I experience on a day-to-day basis is truly a gift in which I am grateful to be able to accomplish! This gift is not only self-fulfilling, but it also allows me to motivate and inspire others! I thrive on the idea of helping others push them selves to live a healthy lifestyle.

I was born and raised in Stony Plain, but currently live in Edmonton, Alberta. Edmonton has an incredible Body building community that I am very proud to be apart of! I was exposed to the lifestyle of competing long before I began competing myself. Working out had always been a big part of my life, however after learning to combine clean eating alongside; I was taken to a whole new level. The interest of competing was always apparent, although I wasn’t too sure where I could fit into the equation- that was until the Bikini category was introduced. My first competition was in 2010 at the ABBA Provincials. After taking 2nd place in Bikini Tall, I was on top of the world. A love for competing began. I have since then placed 1st in Bikini Tall in the 2011 ABBA provincials and I am now in contest prep for my 4th competition at the CBBF Nationals.

I am currently working on earning my IFBB pro card status which would be a dream come true. Competing combines my passion for fitness and my love for the stage. Since the age of 8 I was always on stage whether it be acting or dancing. My love for the stage has been genetically passed down from my Dad, Canada’s first principal ballet dancer, who basically lived on the stage. He would say, “ Imagine you have the audience in the palm of your hand and say to them- Look at me and keep watching.” I tell myself this each and every time I step on stage! Competing challenges me in ways I have never imagined. I am constantly trying to push myself not only with my physique, but also in every other area of my life. I have recently started helping out first time competitors, which I find absolutely rewarding. Being able to share my knowledge and experience with others is something I truly love to do.

So if you have any questions you would like answered, email emily@believefit.ca and every Tuesday I will post the questions and answers! :)
